Albright College’s Domino Players to Present Candide

Music by Leonard Bernstein, Lyrics by Richard Wilbur 
Reading, Pa. – Albright College’s Domino Players will present Candide by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Richard Wilbur, Nov. 2 to 5 in Albright’s Wachovia Theatre. The production, directed by Jeffrey Lentz, Albright’s senior artist-in-residence, includes additional lyrics by John Latouche and Stephen Sondheim, and is from the book by Hugh Wheeler (based on the satire by Voltaire).
Monty Python meets Grand Opera in Bernstein’s brilliant musical adaptation of Voltaire’s satire in which a young Candide and his friends – Cunegonde, Paquette, Maximillian, Dr. Pangloss, and an old lady – endure one hilarious catastrophe after another as they journey around the world in search of the meaning of life in this “best of all possible worlds.”
Additional performance-related events for Candide include:

  • Nov. 2: A talkback and reception will follow the performance.
  • Nov. 3: Albright’s short-form improv ensemble, Less Than or Equal To, will present a show in Roop Hall following the performance.
