Reading, Pa. – Albright College will offer the following Center for the Arts events in September. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free and open to the public.
Theatre:
Stars of the Albright Stage, an Alumni Theatre Festival, Sept. 1 to 3, Wachovia Theatre
Albright’s Center for the Arts, in collaboration with theatre alumni, current students and Domino Players, will present the following performances:
- The Last Emperor of Mexico by Chris Davis ’04, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m., directed by Mary Tuomanen
- She Gon’ Learn by Lisa Strum ’97, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m., directed by Christopher Burris (For Mature Audiences Only)
- Constellations by Nick Payne, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m., directed by Jeffrey Lentz ’85, Albright senior artist in residence.

The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell, Sept. 29 to 30 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m., Wachovia Theatre; Directed by Cory Wilkerson (Hershey Playhouse), co-produced with The Crones.

WXAC’s Concert Series at the Pond, Wednesdays at 6 p.m., Sylvan Pond (no rain dates)
Albright’s radio station, WXAC 91.3 FM, presents the sixth annual Concert Series at the Pond, an outdoor concert series, which includes performances by:
- Sept. 6: Metric Funk Unit
- Sept. 13: Bobby Newton Band
- Sept. 20: Ivan Bravo Mariachi Band (Rain location: McMillan Student Center)
- Sept. 27: Albright’s Got Chops – featuring the Albright Angels, The Mane Men, Albright Jazz Band and the Reading Samba School
Art:
The following two exhibitions are ongoing, running concurrently through Oct. 13:
Faces of Reading + 10, on view in the Freedman Gallery’s Main Gallery and Foyer
Ten years ago, in Faces of Reading: 1000 Portraits of a City, John Pankratz, Ph.D., Albright professor of history, documented the diversity of the city’s population by photographing personal portraits of 1,026 city residents. Now, a decade later, Pankratz, with the collaboration of alumna Angela Cremer ’17, have set out to document how those faces have changed in the new exhibit Faces of Reading + 10.
- Opening Reception, Aug. 20, 1 to 4 p.m., Freedman Gallery
Ed Williford: nine variations on touching and thinking, on view in the Freedman Gallery’s Project Space
Williford, an artist from Magnolia, Miss., creates unique mixed media works of art.

- Sept. 14, 5 to 7 p.m., Freedman Gallery – Opening Reception
Film:
