In addition, 15 members of the Albright College Class of 2019 were named lifetime Jacob Albright Scholars. Dr. Morgan S. Heller Memorial Chemistry Award
American Chemical Society Prize
Physical Chemistry Division of the ACS, Undergraduate Award in Physical Chemistry
The Morgan S. Heller Memorial Chemistry cash prize is given in memory of Professor Morgan S. Heller, awarded to a deserving senior concentrating in chemistry or biochemistry who demonstrates excellence in both academics and character. Preference is given to a student who plans to continue studies in one of these disciplines at the graduate level. And the recipient of the Physical Chemistry Division award demonstrates excellence in physical chemistry and related fields based on research and coursework, and is committed to a career in chemistry, broadly defined (e.g. research, education, industry, etc.). In addition, membership in the American Chemical Society awarded annually by the Lehigh Valley section of the society to the senior majoring in chemistry or biochemistry who is recommended by the department of chemistry on the basis of high standing in scholarship, personality, and character.

Ray Mest ’62 Math Award
The CUE Special Recognition Award is presented to the editor(s) of the Cue from the Albrightian staff in appreciation of hard work. And the Ray Mest ’62 Mathematics Award is given to an outstanding senior mathematics or math/combined concentrator chosen by members of the department. Recipients are considered based on scholarship, performance, leadership and dedication in their pursuit of a mathematics education.

The Lewis E. Smith Political Science Award is given to a student in the field of political science who has demonstrated academic competence in that discipline and who is committed to high personal and social values. This award is provided by Mrs. Lewis E. Smith to honor her husband’s labors as a student and teacher of political science and his lifelong commitment to the academic and spiritual development of the students of Albright College.

This award is presented to a senior accounting major with a cumulative B average or better in accounting who has shown the greatest improvement in accounting between his or her first year and the end of his or her seventh semester, and exhibits the strongest desire to become a CPA.

Psychobiology Award
The Marcus H. Green Pre-Professional Award is given by the Alpha Epsilon Delta Society to a senior pre-professional student in health sciences who has demonstrated the characteristics of perseverance, compassion and humility. And the Psychobiology Award is given to a senior who has shown overall excellence in psychobiology and shows promise of making future contributions to the field, in honor of Marsha Green and Ronald Green who founded the Psychobiology degree at Albright College in 1970.

The Ashley Adams ’05 Study Abroad Scholarship Award
In the spring of 2008, the Department of World Languages and Cultures established the Ashley Adams Study Abroad Memorial Scholarship in honor of a promising Albright alumna with co-concentrations in Spanish and political science. Ashley Adams, who graduated summa cum laude in 2005, was passionate about defending the rights of all and learning about other peoples. During her college years, Ashley traveled to the Dominican Republic to participate in a three-week interim experiential learning course. She founded and was president of Albright College’s Society for Human Rights. Her goal was to become a human rights lawyer. Ashley was passionate about life, with a fire in her soul that pushed her to attain any goal she set for herself. We believe that the recipients of this scholarship embody Ashley’s passion, fire and motivation in pursuit of their goals to experience another language and culture.

Commuter Students Association Award and the CURA Award
The Commuter Student Award is given to a non-resident student in his or her last year of attendance at Albright College who is in good academic standing, and who, through excellence of character and active participation, has made the most worthy contribution to the Commuter Student Association. The word “Cura” stems from the Latin, meaning “care” and the Cura Award recognizes the student who has demonstrated significant service to charitable organizations, Albright College, and the community. Established by Col. Frederick A. Muhlenberg, the Muhlenberg Goodwill Prize Award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated, through responsible action in college activities, a concern that extends to the larger community, and who has shown promise for further accomplishments that will better society.

This award was established in memory of Jean Tshundy’s aunts, Evelyn Boquist Kemp and Esther Boquist Strauch, whose parents emigrated from Uppsala, Sweden to the United States through Ellis Island in the late 1800’s. Their generosity makes it possible for Donald and Jean Tshundy to fund an award on behalf of their daughter-in-law, Marilou (Holland) Tshundy, who graduated from Albright College in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in social welfare. This award is given to a junior or senior majoring in social welfare, social work, sociology, or any other area in the social sciences, who is maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.

The Ashley Adams ’05 Study Abroad Scholarship Award
In the spring of 2008, the Department of World Languages and Cultures established the Ashley Adams Study Abroad Memorial Scholarship in honor of a promising Albright alumna with co-concentrations in Spanish and political science. Ashley Adams, who graduated summa cum laude in 2005, was passionate about defending the rights of all and learning about other peoples. During her college years, Ashley traveled to the Dominican Republic to participate in a three-week interim experiential learning course. She founded and was president of Albright College’s Society for Human Rights. Her goal was to become a human rights lawyer. Ashley was passionate about life, with a fire in her soul that pushed her to attain any goal she set for herself. We believe that the recipients of this scholarship embody Ashley’s passion, fire and motivation in pursuit of their goals to experience another language and culture.

Ellery B. Haskell Memorial Award for Philosophy
The Douglas B. Woolson Memorial Philosophy Prize is given to a student in philosophy who has done substantial written work in philosophy courses, and who has exhibited a spirit of genuine inquiry in his or her studies. The prize is funded by an endowment established by family and friends in memory of Douglas B. Woolson, a philosophy major, Class of ‘88. The Ellery B. Haskell Memorial Award in Philosophy and Religious Studies was established by friends and family in memory of Ellery B. Haskell, and is given to two students whose academic performance has demonstrated the highest standards of critical thinking, scholarly dedication, and moral idealism.

Physical Chemistry Division of the ACS, Undergraduate Award in Physical Chemistry
The Morgan S. Heller Memorial Chemistry cash prize is given in memory of Professor Morgan S. Heller, awarded to a deserving senior concentrating in chemistry or biochemistry who demonstrates excellence in both academics and character. Preference is given to a student who plans to continue studies in one of these disciplines at the graduate level. And the recipient of the Physical Chemistry Division award demonstrates excellence in physical chemistry and related fields based on research and coursework, and is committed to a career in chemistry, broadly defined (e.g. research, education, industry, etc.). In addition, membership in the American Chemical Society awarded annually by the Lehigh Valley section of the society to the senior majoring in chemistry or biochemistry who is recommended by the department of chemistry on the basis of high standing in scholarship, personality, and character.

The Marcus H. This award was established in memory of Jean Tshundy’s aunts, Evelyn Boquist Kemp and Esther Boquist Strauch, whose parents emigrated from Uppsala, Sweden to the United States through Ellis Island in the late 1800’s. Their generosity makes it possible for Donald and Jean Tshundy to fund an award on behalf of their daughter-in-law, Marilou (Holland) Tshundy, who graduated from Albright College in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in social welfare. The Natalie Olson Memorial Award is given to a Resident Assistant for his or her outstanding contributions to resident life at Albright College. It is in memory of Natalie Olson, Class of ’85, who inspired us with her vivacious personality, gentle strength of character, and enthusiastic commitment to serve and excel. The Outstanding Service to the Psychology Department Award is given to student who, through exemplary service to faculty and students, supports the department in providing a quality academic experience in the field of psychology.

The Ashley Adams ’05 Study Abroad Scholarship Award
In the spring of 2008, the Department of World Languages and Cultures established the Ashley Adams Study Abroad Memorial Scholarship in honor of a promising Albright alumna with co-concentrations in Spanish and political science. Ashley Adams, who graduated summa cum laude in 2005, was passionate about defending the rights of all and learning about other peoples. During her college years, Ashley traveled to the Dominican Republic to participate in a three-week interim experiential learning course. She founded and was president of Albright College’s Society for Human Rights. Her goal was to become a human rights lawyer. Ashley was passionate about life, with a fire in her soul that pushed her to attain any goal she set for herself. We believe that the recipients of this scholarship embody Ashley’s passion, fire and motivation in pursuit of their goals to experience another language and culture.
