A new class of Albright College first year and transfer students begin their journey with move-on day on Thursday, Aug. 22, followed by a full slate of Welcome Weekend events, Aug. 22-25. Sophomore, junior and seniors return Aug. 25, and fall 2024 classes begin Aug. 26.

Albright’s 403 academically-minded new students come from around the country and the globe, joining the Reading, Pa., community from both coasts, 14 different states and 10 countries — including Germany, Ghana, Italy, Macau S.A.R., Nepal, Portugal, Switzerland, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.

Although the top declared areas of study for new Albright students are business, computer science, psychology, education and fashion, 79% of new first year and transfer students plan to take advantage of the college’s distinctive co-major program, which enables students to cross or combine different programs, without taking longer to graduate.

More than a third of Albright’s new students will compete as Division III varsity athletes and 47% will be the first in their families to attend college. Fifty-three percent are students of color, 27 identified as National Honor Society members and 36 speak at least two languages.

Twenty-three first year students graduated in the top 10% of their high school classes, taking an average of six honors courses during high school. Fifty-seven are eligible for Albright’s prestigious Honors program.

Thirteen have been named Albright Shirk Scholars, one has earned a full Davis Scholarship, and 16 join Albright as members of the college’s third Global Scholars cohort — for which they will live together throughout their first year, while taking a series of courses together in the fall and spring semesters.
