Newly released by U.S. News and World Report, Albright College has again ranked as a Top Performer on Social Mobility. The college placed in the top 40 national liberal arts colleges for the 2021 measurement on social mobility.
First released by the U.S. News and World Report last year, the Top Performers on Social Mobility list recognizes national liberal arts colleges that are more successful than others at enrolling and seeing economically-disadvantaged students through to graduation.
Specifically, the measurement targets how well colleges graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. Typically, Pell Grants are awarded to students who come from households with a family income of less than $50,000. But because Pell Grant award amounts vary, most Pell Grant dollars actually go to students with a total family income below $20,000.
Recognizing that almost half of Albright students are the first in their family to attend college and a significant number are Pell recipients, the college continues to advance offerings in support of students who face academic and social challenges. Proactive student-centered advising and infrastructure, as well as faculty development programs aim to strengthen teaching, learning and innovation at the college.
