Adelle Schade, Albright College’s dean of pre-college and summer programs and founder of Total Experience Learning® has been named a 2023 Berks County Take the Lead winner by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP). She will be recognized at the annual, girl-led Take the Lead ceremony on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
A premier fundraising event for the Girl Scouts council, Take the Lead is a unique leadership program that fosters mentorship with distinguished women leaders from the community whose work and achievements make the world a better place.
Through the Take the Lead program, high school-aged Girl Scouts shadow inspiring women leaders from the Greater Philadelphia, Berks County, and Lehigh Valley area to gain valuable insight into their careers and help them jumpstart their professional networks.
Throughout her career, Schade has had the confidence and courage to look beyond traditional education processes to create innovative curriculums. Previously, she was a science teacher at Conrad Weiser High School where she founded Total Experience Learning, the trademarked learning and instructional methodology formally known as the Science Research Institute. In December 2022, the program received international recognition as an Innovative Educational Model by the Materials Science sub-division of the United Nations. Additionally, Adelle holds an appointment as an adjunct instructor of pediatrics in the Penn State College of Medicine.
Schade will be honored alongside three other Berks County leaders: Desha Dickson, Tower Health, Virginia Dodge, VA Productions and Virginia Rush, Wyomissing Foundation.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania serves close to 40,000 girls in partnership with more than 15,000 volunteers in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties. Today, 80% of women in leadership and executive roles in the U.S. were Girl Scouts. Girl Scout alums comprise 70% of women in the U.S. Congress.
