Albright senior tackles Pittsburgh Steelers internship

Football season has come early for Albright senior Stephanie Pomante ’19 who is spending her summer learning the ins and outs of her favorite team in the NFL: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A business administration marketing major with a minor in finance, Pomante is the Steelers only female marketing intern this summer, and is working closely with John Simpson, head of the Steelers Marketing Department, whom she met during an annual Women’s Training Camp hosted by the Steelers organization last year.
After meeting Simspon, the NFL super-fan huddled with Albright College’s Experiential Learning and Career Development Center to fine-tune her resume and cover letter in preparation for an interview at Heinz Field stadium.
Since landing the May to August internship, Pomante has been handling duties that range from office work to organizing registrations and running summer camps, and has even given tours of the stadium to people like country music star Chris Lane.
In addition to NFL marketing duties, Pomante has been improving her skills with public relations and event management. To put it simply, the internship has been a perfect opportunity for this life-long Steelers fan.
“My favorite part of the internship is all of it really,” says Pomante. “I am a huge Steelers fan to begin with, so this internship is honestly a dream come true.”
Off hours, Pomante has been living in the city of Pittsburgh and keeping busy by working in a part time job at LA Fitness, or exploring the city with her team of new co-workers. She hopes the experience helps to kick off a position in the sports marketing industry after graduation.
