Albright graduate pursues post-grad internship in Barcelona

Albright College graduate Morgan Guers ’22 is pursuing a post-grad internship in Barcelona, Spain this fall.

When her plans to study abroad during her sophomore year were cut short by COVID, Guers initially thought the possibility of interning in Spain was lost. But this fall, Guers is experiencing her internship as an Albright graduate, with Sustainability Worldwide Center 2050 — a sustainability research center that designs and develops applied global sustainability research projects and consulting programs.

“At the end of my senior year at Albright, I was debating on whether I wanted to go right to law school or if I should take a gap year to give myself some academic rest,” said Guers, who plans to study constitutional law. “However, I knew that I didn’t want to waste a year, so instead, I wanted to spend that time doing something more worthwhile, something that would be more fulfilling both personally and professionally.”

That’s when Guers remembered her previous CIS Abroad study abroad deferral.

“I decided to reach out to them to see if I would be able to still participate in a program as a graduate and not as an undergraduate student,” said Guers. “Luckily, they said yes, and here I am in Barcelona, growing myself as a person and as a professional. This internship has been long awaited, but I am so beyond excited to actually be here, and I am grateful for the experience that I am going to gain here.”

Arriving in Barcelona, Spain early in September, Guers will work 20 hours a week for three months as Sustainability Worldwide Center 2050’s Research and Communications Support Intern. A member of the Honors program at Albright, Guers co-majored in International Relations and Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies. As a senior, she earned the Lewis E. Smith Political Science award for demonstrating academic competence and a commitment to high personal and social values.
