Albright’s award-winning theatre troupe will perform “Everybody,” Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 26-28, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m., in the college’s Wachovia Theatre. Written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, the play will be directed by Albright theatre major Joey Love ’20. A talkback and reception, follows Thursday’s show and a free Albright Improv show (Roop Hall) follows Friday’s show.
“Everybody,” inspired by the 15th-century morality play “Everyman,” tells the story of Everybody who represents, well, everybody! This 2018 Pulitzer Prize nominee takes the title character on a journey to discover life’s greatest questions while being confronted with their own mortality. “Everybody” is a hilariously heartfelt and extremely meta adaptation that should have everyone thinking about one of the most important philosophical queries: What is the meaning of life?
Albright’s Domino Players received an astounding nine national awards for its 2018-19 production of “A Raisin in the Sun,” including the Kennedy Center’s highest national honor for Outstanding Production of a Play — the troupe’s third national title since 2007. “Raisin” was selected from 52 productions invited to perform at eight geographical regional Kennedy Center festivals across the country. Other national Kennedy Center accolades for “Raisin” include four distinguished performance awards as well as honors for scenic design, lighting and directing.
Tickets for “Everybody” are $15 for adults or $10 for alumni, senior citizens, students and staff. Visit the Albright College box office in person or online at albright.edu/centerforthearts or call (610) 921-7547.
