Albright College Offers New Majors or Co-Majors

New Academic Offerings include Allied Health, Animation, Cyber Criminology, Music Production, and Vocal Performance

Reading, PA –  At Albright College, our mission is to prepare students, through undergraduate and graduate education, to live their best lives now and in the future. Based on external reviews, Albright has been identified as successful in carrying out this mission.  Albright is ranked number 22 in the nation for social mobility; in other words, giving students the skills and knowledge to maximize their earning potential and pursue a fulfilling professional life. Albright is ranked in the top 17% nationally for students receiving a return on their investment and is known for distinction in Career Development.  The College has been designated a top liberal arts school, ranked #159 in the nation.

Toward that end, Academic and co-curricular program assessment is undergoing evaluation. Faculty are announcing new academic offerings, such as Allied Health, Animation, Cyber Criminology, Music Production, and Vocal Performance. Additional offerings based on student interest and market needs are being considered.

Albright continues to have a robust list of majors and co-majors. The Albright academic programs are distinctive because students can earn two majors (co-majors) within the same number of credits required for graduation. Albright is committed to continually assessing its programming to meet the needs of students now and in the future.

Albright has some academic programs that have had few students choosing to major or co-major in them over the past few years. The student interest in these academic areas has waned, and these programs will be phased out at the recommendation of the Faculty Executive Committee. Examples of programs that will be phased out include American Civilization, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Urban Affairs. Some programs, such as Religious Studies, will remain as a minor. Students in areas of study being phased out will be able to complete their program at Albright College. Students are receiving letters outlining their academic plan and are meeting with advisors to ensure completion of their current major for graduation at Albright College.

In Athletics, a new NCAA DIII Stunt program will begin next year. Recruitment for Stunt is underway, which includes cheerleading, dance, and stunt.
