Albright College has been named a Top National Liberal Arts College Performer on Social Mobility via the U.S. News and World Report’s newly released 2024 rankings, listed #31 nationally. Albright also earned 2024 recognition as a U.S. News Top National Liberal Arts College. Only 211 of nearly 1,500 colleges (evaluated on as many as 19 measures) made the Top National Liberal Arts list for 2024. Albright has moved up in this ranking by at least 10 places in each of the last three years.
The U.S. News Social Mobility ranking recognizes national colleges that are more successful than others at enrolling and seeing economically-disadvantaged students through to graduation. Albright College has appeared on the list each year since the measure launched, in 2020. This indicator recognizes that “economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for their achievement in high school.” The ranking measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants, as well as measuring borrower debt and earnings after graduation.
Students receiving Pell grants typically come from households where the family income is less than $50,000 annually, with most money going to students with total family incomes below $20,000. Recognizing that almost half of Albright students are the first in their family to attend college and a significant number are Pell recipients, Albright College continues to advance offerings in support of students who face academic and social challenges. By providing one-on-one consultation and collaborating closely with students’ faculty, academic advisers and other support units, Albright’s Student Success Centerhelps provide a clear path to academic planning and success.Additional proactive student-centered infrastructure include the Lifting up Lions initiative and faculty development programs that aim to strengthen teaching, learning and innovation at the college.
